Rent-a-Grandma
I have always lamented not having a sweet, loving Grandma who would give me juice and tell me stories. After years of feeling twinges of jealousy whenever friends spoke of their wonderful grandmothers, I have decided to create my own. She will be everything I’ve always wanted from the grandmother I never had, and I would like to share her warmth and loving kindness with you.
This interactive installation reimagines a gallery space as Grandma’s house. Interested participants can sign up for 30-minute slots with Grandma. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a warm hug and a soft chocolate chip cookie. Grandma will regale you with interesting stories about her past, and tell you what a gorgeous, wonderful person you are.

My mother raised me to celebrate fresh produce, warm kitchens, and boisterous dinner table conversations. Over the years, I have honed my skills as a vegetarian chef and am ready to share my creativity with the world. With a firm nod to my culinary hero, Mollie Katzen, I am now organizing my gastronomic explorations in a hand-drawn cookbook. With a focus on fresh produce and simple combinations, I will lead my readers through the delights of vegetarian cuisine. I firmly believe in the joy of cooking and hope to incite the same passion in the hearts and minds of the chefs and eaters that peruse my pages.
